The Causes of the Destruction of the Disbelievers ‎from the People of Hud (peace be upon him);‎

The Sunnah of Destruction

Selections from the Book Prophet Hud (peace be upon him) And the Causes for the Demise of the Civilization of the People of Aad

Written by Dr. Ali Muhammad al-Sallabi...

Episode  (26)

Allah has decreed that the final judgment and reward will occur on the Day of Judgment, but there is a divine wisdom that involves separating the people of truth from the people of falsehood in this world. This occurs through the destruction of the oppressors and the salvation of the believers in the ongoing struggle between the messengers (peace be upon them) and their enemies. In this struggle, Allah’s law prevailed over the wretched. Some were drowned in the flood, others were struck by a barren wind, some were destroyed by a loud shriek, others were shaken by an earthquake and fell lifeless in their homes, and some were transformed into apes and pigs. The destruction that befell those wrongdoers was a disgrace for them in this world and a victory for the believers. It serves as a lesson for the nations that follow to reflect upon the fates of those before them, to take heed, and to avoid the paths of Satan, which led to the destruction of the previous generations who opposed Allah and His messenger.

The term "destruction" in the Holy Qur'an appears with various meanings depending on the context, such as death in general, corruption, the loss of something, and punishment. The latter meaning is the most commonly used in the Holy Qur'an and is related to our topic.

In Qur'anic terminology, destruction refers to the severe punishment that Allah inflicts upon His disbelieving enemies. This is often mentioned in the stories of the past nations that deviated from the straight path, denied the commands of Allah, and harmed His messengers and prophets (peace be upon them).

Allah says: {And how many have We destroyed from the generations after Noah. And ‎sufficient is your Lord, concerning the sins of His servants, as Aware and ‎Seeing.} [Al-Isra: 17]‎. The people of 'Aad were the first destroyed nation after the people of Noah (peace be upon him).
